Even as a kid I always wondered how Doggie's head fit into a human head-shaped helmet, and it's been a recurring topic/running joke in the Power Rangers/Super Sentai fandom for the longest time. I always dismissed it as "Morphing Grid Magic" and left it at that, and you could say the same for the Omega Ranger, the Blue Turbo Ranger, the Silver Beast Morphers Ranger, and so forth.
Of course, SPD (and it's Sentai counterpart Dekaranger) have always been among the weirder entries in the franchise.

I think the 3rd is the best aesthetically for the muzzle, but I like 1's ears better.
Also, found this while looking for Shadow Ranger helmet redesigns after watching an SPD history/retrospective video, so yes, we remember the weird police season that technically happens this year, 2025 XD
