That's not what it looks like

OK people, let's worldbuild! :)
Imagine you are walking at a beach and 3 pretty mirashes want to do a photo with you and send it someone else. When they do the photo this scene happens. Probably you would wonder if the recipient of the photo is their worst enemy or what...
In fact, it isn't. Even more, it may be their the best friend! So, why they all flipping him/her the bird? O_o
You see, their recipient is also a Mirash, so they use mirash non-verbal language. And what all that mean?
"Come here, it's great!"
Yup, showing middle finger to some other Mirash means asking him/her come closer (or just "come here"). It's somewhat an equivalent of the gesture when you show someone you pointing finger an waves at him/her with your palm up.
Soooo, did I gave the Mirash this gesture to mock my viewers? Not...so much.
You see, this species uses fingers differently. For example, what we call 'index finger' isn't used to point at by them. Even worse, if you see a mirash pointing at you with this finger, run away! Fast! Why? Well, as they say "Don't point me with this, I'm not your food!". They call that finger "dirty", because it is used for things which make it literally filthy, like: eating, touching messy thing (think about fixing your car and all that oil and grease...) and...well...number two >_>.
So, what they use to point at something? And more important, to pointing at people?
Well, they use the opposite: the pinky! Using this little finger is considered an appropriate way to point at thing you consider valuable to you. Even if that sounds crazy, it isn't, if you think of it: it is a little harder to use pinky this way, so, for mirash way of thinking, this means you are doing extra work for someone and thus respect him/her.
We have spoken about index finger and pinky. What about other fingers?
Mirash use the rest: middle and ring finger for extra things, which doesn't involve pointing or using something (thumb is rarely used for anything). And this leads us to where we started: the gesture from the picture. This is the type of 'extra' thing which requires 'extra' fingers for. I haven't said that before, but for this gesture it doesn't have to be a middle finger, they could use a ring finger and everything would be the same. It's just almost impossible to show that finger without accidentally showing a pinky (try yourself!).Ooff, that was a lot of writing! And about the picture itself: probably my first time when there is many characters in a picture interacting with each other. Annnd I haven't draw a human so long it shows. Body is fine but hair...my worst enemy >_<
