hey all, my friend has been having an issue w someone on here and other sites copying their work/heavy reffing their arts anatomy + poses [and sometimes even copying the design elements, going so far as to copy the hair].
they don't post here on FA but the reffer does, so i'm making this post for them
they don't want anyone messaging this person as they already have done so twice, and never got a response despite giving ample time to respond to them
not only that, but they blocked this person on every site they knew they shared, only to have this person go out of their way to find their toyhou.se and heavy ref from there, just because they didn't know this person had an account on there. it's borderline stalking at that point.
please don't buy from this person, they're likely to give you something reffed off other artists' hard work. they did reference from me once that i know of, as well.
they go by siqko on here, as well.
here's the compilation of recent things this person has reffed from my friend in particular. we don't have a total compilation of all things reffed from other artists, but we are aware this person does do that w other people too. they had been reffing from my friend for years, even before 2017, but they only put together stuff from 2017 onwards
this person even went so far as to copy things my friend only posted on a specific site, and then only posted the copy on another site where the original wouldnt have been seen.

thank u for reading
Minor update: At the time of this post and stash creation, Siqko went by he/him pronouns and as such some of the content may reflect that, they now use they/them pronouns. Sorry if anything's been missed or overlooked.

If you can prove they traced your work you can report them to site admins on sites you use where they posted the traced stolen art.
If you put your work over their work at 50% opacity and show proof that it is line for line (save for a small change) that it is your work it would be a lot better than posting the traced work side by side to the original work. Also using redlines to show that they did in fact trace would work too.
A lot of people reference images (pokemon is a huge one I personally do sketch book drawings that are heavily referenced but I admit its referenced from Ken Sugimori and don't claim its all original from me) but if you can prove without a shadow of a doubt that this work is stolen from you (and others) its better to prove it with shadowing and redlining.
I support you and have preemptively blocked this person and have not contracted them at all.

For the most part it's heavyily referenced, without permission, and they continued to do so even after the person asked them twice to stop. They post it as if it's their own work w/o any crediting, and they even make monetary profit off of it

even without overlaying, you can easily tell that these items have been heavily reffed. the original on left on the first, and origin on right in the second.

this is why overlaying won't necessarily work in all cases as this person heavily references. u__u
they aren't usually just referencing as they rarely change much if anything at all, in some cases they even copy specific portions that are part of the og's character's design, rather than the pose itself
thank u again tho! ;__;b

I'm not sure if you realize this, but you CAN NOT legally copyright a pose, or colors, or design elements. I have seen THOUSANDS of character designs with freaking swirls on their knees. You cant claim that as your own thing. and a lot of the color choices of your designs, and their designs are a freaking COMMON occurrence, as I have also seen thousands of similar designs to both yours and theirs. Just because their pictures happen to have similar posses to some of your pictures, dose NOT mean that they have "copied" or "traced" or "heavily referenced" your artwork. I have looked through all your evidence, and have seen literally NOTHING wrong with their artwork. I can clearly see that nothing is traced, everything is drawn by hand. And I'm sorry but there is nothing wrong with referencing another persons artwork, or designs. There is no such thing anymore as a 100% original idea, EVERYTHING is a copy of something else. But as I have already said, you can not copyright a pose, and its just ridiculous to harass someone because the leg's or the but or one of the damn paws happens to be in the same position as a pose you did. Just so you know, you can only draw feral type animals in so many poses, before they start to look the same as another drawn pose. Hell this person probably didn't even know about you until you started harassing them. I have had the same shit pulled on me before, where I had some silly random person I had never even heard of before, or seen their art, come to my page and start harassing me, because I had pictures with similar poses as some of their artwork. It's a horrible feeling when people come onto your page, especially if you have no clue who the person even is, and start harassing you for such a stupid, petty reason. That's one of the main reasons why I hardly ever draw, or post my artwork anymore, because I got so sick of ignorant people attacking me over something so petty, as having a similar pose to their artwork. But anyway, You are both talented artist's, and I will support you BOTH.
Oh of course, I am well aware. I also support heavy reffing things as practice as well.
The main problem here is the fact they've done this without permission, bypassing blocks to continue to do so, and then sell it for money, deny everything when asked, and doesn't credit the artist(s) they're doing it to, ignored their DMs asking them to stop, ignored any banners saying do not reference or use art without permission, and never apologised. It's not JUST the heavy reffing or heavy inspo, it's that combined w the behaviour that's the big problem.
I am not harassing them, we posted our posts on our respective SM and left it at that. My friend asked them in DMs to stop or they'd make a post about it, and they ignored it. They messaged them more than once, on different sites, and then blocked them to try and prevent it from happening anymore [you can see this in the stash actually]. And they STILL kept going to their accounts to do it. They tried to resolve this in private and politely, first.
And no, they did know about me and my friend. They commissioned me before I knew this was happening, we did ArtFight attacks on each other ( In case you don't have an artfight), they followed my accounts, and they even had/have my art on a TH page (I'm not saying they should get rid of it, they paid for it so they can keep it I literally don't mind that, just showing you that we DID know each other) and they knew my friend from several DA groups as well and did art for each other a few times. They've interacted before. My friend had the same experience with an artist they didn't know saying their grey Pikachu was a copy of theirs, yes it happens. I can 100% assure you that is not at all what happened here.
I want to mention that what's shown in the folder isn't even all of it. If you'd like to see the most egregious examples, here you go:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....56/unknown.png
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....84/unknown.png him denying it followed by obvious proof [the bottom one has to be the worst offender, his on the right] this one isn't our art (I'm including the DM to show proof that he does deny it when asked)
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....53/unknown.png this happened as well, which is part of why doing this harms the artist they're reffing w/o permission nor credit.
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....04/unknown.png also not our art, original top left, their batch on right. bottom right original, theirs are the sketchy ones
https://gyazo.com/2c279ed0da6930c03d1b6665f43feb57 theirs on left, my friend's on right [this one is in the stash but i can understand if you've missed it, but you literally can't deny that it's been heavy reffed]
I am only showing you proof because you've implied that we've come up with this because of happenstance similarity and not because he's being doing this to artists for years. Not because I think heavy reffing is bad in of itself. Please note this STILL isn't all of it. This isn't some personal petty drama either, we never spoke in DMs or anything, we only knew each other because of the following and art interactions. I've posted this because I know many people don't want to condone this behaviour and unknowingly support someone doing this to artists, it's a beware and that's it.
Sorry if I'm over clarifying, I've had a lot of people see my evidence and then try and spin it another way so that it looks like I'm doing this out of malice. 0(
I want to reiterate again, I do know no one owns a pose, or a species, or an art style, or a marking, or a palette. I am well aware. This isn't JUST that. I hope you can understand after further elaboration. Thank you for your time.
