[[COMM]] Forest Hike (ft. Artan) - by TheMuffinly
It had been over a month of planning, but at last Artan and Jaanada arrived at the start of their mountain hike for the day. Awaiting them was a six day adventure of trekking through trails that took them through valleys, across creeks, and up to the peaks of the sprawling mountain range. Artan hopped out first, the fennectaur taking a moment to stretch from being cooped up in their car for the hour-long trip. Jaanada soon followed, her bulky build rocking the vehicle with her exit, and spread her wings wide.
They both looked over to the path ahead that lead through some trees, beyond which the snow-capped mountains could be seen looming in the distance. "What a view we get to start off with!" Jaanada smiled.
"I know, right?" Artan agreed, making sure his saddle bags were secured. "I've always wanted to hike through here. It's so beautiful."
Jaanada padded over to the rear of their ride and put on her pair of saddlebags, then joined up with Artan at the start of the path. Together, they started their hike. "This path should lead to a small river bank in about three kilometers," she pointed out. "I've been told that's where we might find a rare species of snake."
Artan pulled a thermos from one of his saddlebags and uncapped it. "Is that why you picked this route first?"
"It is!" Jaanada smiled, turning to her fennectaur friend. "It's called the sapphire water snake. They live exclusively in this region and they're endangered. But stars, they have the prettiest scales! It helps them blend in with the waters they hunt in."
"Ah, you've been doing a lot of reading on the wildlife here."
"Yeah, heh, I think I spent like three hours reading about the wildlife we'd encounter today. I wonder how many we'll actually see."
Artan chuckled. "Only one way to find out!"
Yes, I now have a taur version of Jaanada! To be completely honest, I do find taurs quite appealing, as they're basically the "pickup trucks" of the fandom. And if Jaanada was a pickup truck, she'd probably be a big Silverado 3500 Super Duty with duallies and a big Duramax diesel. XD
This is also the first commission I've received with another person, as my friend
artankatana agreed to feature his own taur self as well. If there's one thing they have in common, it's the love of a good hike through nature.
