When in doubt, sick the Phyrexian Army on them.
Xenoviruses are adept at genome editing and mutation, so they have this habit of turning select cells into mutated monstrosities to do the fighting for them. The mutated cells aren’t infectious, but they are very dangerous and destructive, often equipped with blades or sharp teeth with acidic cytoplasm. Their purpose is simple. They have no thoughts, no emotions, they just follow orders, making cells die and destroying tissue that can later be rebuilt and terraformed by the Xenovirus. A macro organism (such as a human or alien) unfortunate enough to be infected, will either succumb and die if they are weak, or the strong will mutate into macro versions of the monstrosities to become even stronger with a significantly longer lifespan, once the Xenovirus terraforming is complete.
On her home world, following their ‘divine purpose’ granted to them by their creators, each Xenovirus would act as a Preator and general to a vast army of these monstrosities, using them to achieve the goals of Phyrexia (their planet) or specifically to follow whatever faction’s ideals they aligned with, which would sometimes end with two Xenoviruses from opposing factions colliding in the same body, and using their monsterous armies against eachother in an all out cytoplasm bath. Survival of the fittest!
