Vaashu Alien Race Reference WIP
Name: Vaashu
Height: 5'0 - 5'2
Weight: 136-140 pounds
Biology:
Vaashu have ears for hearing far away and high distance sounds but also have ears for hearing sounds very close to the ground like footsteps, creaks or the very lowest vibrations of sound. They can hear almost anything up to a maximum of 48ft away and focus on the sound using both their ears for triangular designation: It's location, volume, pitch, the Vaashu's ears are like a perfect satelite navigation device. Their only weakness is very high intensity wind storms, muddling their ability to perfectly detect sound.
Their long fingers are perfect for reaching deep inside holes and finding insects via the most sensitive vibrations below them, then digging to find a quick snack. This is commonplace on their world, a lush purple forest paradise with green rivers and lakes and red plains and landmass, but having very little mountainous terrain, instead being many pits of which water flows deep into underground caves and caverns where rare flowers grow. Their hands are also perfectly adaptive for climbing trees and vegetation.
Their eyes are capable of seeing into the dark. Their maws were evolved for omnivorous diet, insects, flora and even their adversary the pit snake, which has a deadly toxin to see who will hunt who first.
The male and female genders are almost perfectly indistinguishable, the only difference being males have purple tongues and yellow eyes and females have red tongues and clear icy blue eye colour. They're perfectly capable of perfectly ingesting poisons, their saliva and gut bacteria a perfect antivenom.
Biography:
Vaashu are both civilized and not, alternating from pack mentality, to living in close seclusion with each other but often fighting with upfronts to their mates and competing for dominance. The pack mentality showing itself during most of the year and then breeding season because of their very high reproduction rate, fighting even in small wars for territory because males practically want to f*k every female they can get their hands on.
Otherwise, they live in treetop villages in the high tree canopies of the forests away from predators. They enjoy song and dance and their extremely beautiful voices have been known to heal and even nullify the aggression of others.
Vaashu can live up to around 500 years old, however, due to their tendecy to fight during mating season, there is a call to manhood tests to test their survivability and combat. They unusually lack 'Leaders or chiefs' mostly roaming in a uneasy individualistic 'pacts' for the sake of 'Ends define the means' and taking care of their mates. They're docile towards outsiders however.
Their colours range from reds and burgundy to lavender, their underbellies and face masks are always cream or beige coloured, aswell as their ear undersides, earms, paws bellies and hands.
They also lay one egg, hence their defensiveness during mating season and the protectivity of their young and bouts of competition, males are extremely inclined to fight for who will mate, which is often for life.
