Now that here is something interesting I noticed on the mortuary of Frankfurts South cementary. There is still visible damage on the building from bullets and shrapnell from World War 2. I didn´t really find much about this online, only that the mortuary was badly damaged in the war and had to be rebuild in the 1950s. Interesting is that the holes are just facing south. From what I remember the US Army attacked Frankfurt from the south. This building is near the southern city limits, its on a small hill and was at that time one of the tallest stuctures in the area. Possible that the german army used the building as a defence position so that there were firefights around it.
