As time went on for the next several years, O' Hara showed only kindness and respect to Aldebaran while everyone else was treated cruelly in ways they do not wish to speak of. Their only choice was to "produce or die" on what was now a prison farm with no escape or chance of fighting back. By keeping everyone in line and prevent from every escaping, O' Hara will use punish with the force of the whip and install fear in the herd. When Grace accidentally ends up on the farm, O' Hara chooses to keep her as his property, despite knowing that she belongs to Pearl, after losing the award for Most Beautiful Farm Animal that Aldebaran won every year until Grace took the Golden Ribbon this time, and mistreats her terribly like the other animals who had their spirits broken, even been in cahoots with corrupt lawmen to keep the sheriff off his farm.
