Ah yes the badlands. The place I call home is in the middle of them. I have heard people describe the badlands as, "bleak", "barren", "empty", "inhospitable", "depressing" and. perhaps my personal favorite, "The surface of Mars".
Here we have a vast expanse of the badlands stretching as far as the eye can see, and that black stripe down the middle of it is a major US highway. You wouldn't think so but it is.
