Well, after several days of being quite happy with my Pogo redraws, I hit one I ultimately don't like. Walt Kelly did a strip with a rare close-up on Mouse. Usually the strip shows characters from pretty far off. Well, it's always harder to draw a character close-up, and Mouse particularly since usually, he's seen only from afar. Mostly, his lower snout is either too large or it's off-center to camera right. Still, there's some good stuff here, like the looseness of the whiskers. And I used a thick tapered brush to paint in his hat, eyes, and coat, rather than using a flood-fill. The difference may be slight on his jacket, but it makes a much better look for his hat. I may use this for filling in big areas like this in future.
I'm not fishing for compliments here. I'm trying to look at these pictures, twelve hours after I finish them, to evaluate what I'm doing well or poorly, in the hopes that I can do more 'well' before long. I don't think I'm averse to critiques of my drawing. I just haven't got much experience taking it either.
