Be games, do cry
(This was a parody of a cartoon that was posted to Twitter back in early April that made a lot of people mad, people who could have just minded their own business instead of concern-trolling the artist as if she were a problem child who got in trouble for drawing a picture of a gun in school or some such tommyrot.)

This was a parody of a comic that was making the rounds on Twitter almost two months ago, in which the main character shoplifts some art supplies; people vilified the artist for glorifying petty crime. The artist also happens to be an outspoken trans woman, which I figure has something to do with the extreme negative reaction the cartoon got.
Sure enough, not being an outspoken trans woman myself, I got no blowback whatsoever for my cartoon.

Ah. Was wondering if it had something to do with that.
I mean... yours is clearly a joke, though. It even has a punchline. There's is more about normalizing it. I worry more about their habits IRL than their sexuality based on the presentation and the context of the comic. IRL theft isn't cool, yo.

I mean, the cashier directly asking him if he's gonna pay for it and just blithely saying "Nope!" is pretty funny, though I imagine if it was animated the cashier would likely give a worried shrug. ;P
In slightly related news, have you ever drawn KT interacting with Richard Scary's Busy Town folks? His head shape and eye placement suddenly reminded me of the worm guy from that. And considering said character's odd presentation, I think they'd get along pretty well.

Luckily, you don't have to be a musician to play a synthesizer! Or music at all, really.
And the reaction to that comic really bothered me as well. For the reasons you stated above, as well as the fact that they were recounting a tale from their younger years without ever claiming that shoplifting was good or bad, and seriously, how many people haven't shoplifted once or twice, especially when they were young.
Not to even mention all of the good reasons that could be ticked off for theft at least occasionally being a righteous act.
