Kig-Yar Privateers (Covenant sanctioned Pirates/Scavengers) would need EVA gear when boarding ships in the vacuum of space. More specifically this design is for Ruuthian Kig-Yar as they did not receive EVA gear like the jackals in Halo 4/5 have.
These are the Jackal pirates that appear in my Halo Lonesome comic. This design being that they aren't fully assimilated into the Covenant. Which are "homemade" mish-mash designs by Kig-Yar instead of entirely Covenant (San'Shyuum) designed. So their undersuits are more leathery and fabric like, compared to the form fitting high tech suits that the Covenant would have developed.
Also designed up the energy cutlasses that Jackals are known to use. It bothered the hell out of me that the comic artists who have drawn jackals with cutlasses never actually drew the device. Instead only drawing a glowing light shining from the jackal's hand.
Also gave a ranking appearance to their suits. Drakes being "officers" while crooks the equivalent of swabbies.
