Akoni here is one of the younger in the Vampyre Guard. At least in terms of his physical appearance. In actuality he may be among the oldest. Akoni is a pretty bright and happy Vampyre. He has a good life and good friends and thanks to being Vampyre there's no limit to how long this can last. Akoni here has been in the guard for quite some time. His people have made quite a lot of technological advances. Far more so then the humans of their world. Where as the humans are scattered into various kingdoms and nations that constantly bicker the Vampyre stand united as a species regardless of if they're pure born, half-blood, or turned. A quick run down of their weaknesses though. Their only real weakness is sunlight. They don't tolerate it as well as humans and as such it does effect them and if constantly exposed to it for long enough without any medication to counteract it they can die. It's a slow languishing and painful death as towards the end the skin actually darkens and burns and flakes off. As far as blood goes they do require it or a synthetic substitute. They can subsist off of animal or human blood. Although human blood does do a better job of satisfied that hunger and actually results in faster healing. The Vampyre now a days usually drink cloned human blood although some wanting the real thing do essentially pay a human to be a periodical donor. It's rare in the current age for a vampire to go off and just feed on humans at random. Although it does happen from time to time. Vampyre and human relations are rocky to say the least. Akoni here was on of the Guardsmen who fought in the Annex war. Essentially a radical religiously motivated group of humans believed the vampyre to be demons who should be purged from the land. What makes this worse is that the Vampyre were actually trying to uplift this group and bestowed upon them technology to better their living conditions and civilization. Thanks to this when these radicals attacked they weren't armed with ordinary weapons such as the average fire arm or bladed weapon. But instead with, albeit crude, Vampyre energy weapons. The weapon Akoni holds is an example. The staff ax has in it's head a firing chamber allowing it to be used as both melee and fire arm weapon. Akoni was among the first to arrive at a town which had been attacked by them. There wasn't anything left alive in it. Every man, woman, child, and animal had been killed. This enraged the Vampyre. Death is different to them. They are quite capable of living forever where as a human no matter what will eventually die. It is such an abnormality for someone who was there yesterday to be gone and gone for good. Eventually thanks to better tactics and weapons the Vampyre won. The human's advantage of having Vampyre weapons only lasted so long. Eventually they began to break down to to stress and improper maintenance. Near the end the weapons they had were so unstable that a human might fire only to hear a whine from the weapon as the charge kept building in the chamber of the weapon. At this point they often threw it at their enemy hoping to use the resulting explosion as a grenade of sorts. Although some tried to discharge the weapon only to have it blow up in their faces.

Akoni got to see all of this go down. But he's managed to keep a good outlook on things. In the end he and the others won after all so he stopped more people from dieing. He also takes heart in the fact not all humans were on the side of these radicals. Akoni here likes quite a lot of humans. He figures that given human life spans and the time ago this war took place any human directly responsible for it is now dead and gone. He's now content to do patrols down by the docks. He's got a quite life and is content with it now.
