How long did it take you to tune it to such fine details? This is really impressive for FDM printer and did you do much clean up afterwards? I assume this is from the delta printer you've tweeted before!
I don't own a printer myself but been itching to get an entry level printer myself and this is exactly the sort of thing I'd do with it.

It didn't take too long to dial it in. I did one lower res print to identify any trouble areas and that's about it. I didn't do any finishing work on this, other than to remove the support structures and glue on the glasses (they are super thin so I had to do a them in a separate print run).
It's actually the first time I've tried to get this k ind of detail from my delta printer, I've got a smaller, more basic, printer that I experimented with getting super fine details from when I first start with 3D printing, so the same principals translated over.
The trick is very much to go with very thin layers, low speed, and good filament. I could probably squeeze more detail from the delta printer if I wanted, but this was quite a big model so I wanted to keep the printing time to a reasonable level.

Ah, I moreso meant learning/tuning your printer starting from fresh out of box to printing something like this, but I hear ya! It'd be cool to eventually afford one myself and do something similar. But of course, the other half of the puzzle is learning/commissioning the 3D models. :P
