This is why you should not give me sculpty on a rainy day when I am looking at werewolf pictures.
I realize the paw anatomy is horrible. It could be a cat, wolf, dog, walrus, llama, giraffe. BUT OHO I HAD FUN.
I have a matching set for my other shoe. The picture was taken when the sculpty was still raw, and so I am about to bake it and then coat it with black paint.
I don't know if it will hold up, but this isn't a serious project.
I'm glad its raining, because tomorrow I am so leaving paw prints everywhere.
Though it might scare people.
A few days back somebody next door called Animal Control because they saw mountain lion prints near their house. Wait until they see THESE xD
And no I don't have big feet, though these boots look huge. These shoes are 7 1/2s, while I wear a 7.

awesome!! i did the same a year ago,i used leather for the pads and acetic silicon for past them on the shoes,it worked wonderfully but after some time silicon started to detach and i lost somewhere some pads but with rain i was leaving paw print everywhere!! it was sooo funny XD now i'm thinking to do it again but i want to made something more strong
silicon is pretty good, strong and very elastic/flexible,i think to use it again but i want to try a best quality of silicon maybe with rubber, latex or something similar with leather again for the pads. I think that plastic and other rigid materials aren't good for make the pads cause when you walk the sole of the shoes flex to much and the rigidity of the pads make them to detach.
I'll try anyway and if i found something tha work good i'll let you know

These actually look pretty damn good, even if the anatomy is kind of general.
Sadly, it probably won't hold up if you actually walk on it much. Sculpy is kind of brittle, especially if you bake it for too long (And if you don't bake it enough, it doesn't cure properly, so it's tough to get right). One option is something called epoxy putty; it will set up hard as a rock, and fairly durable, though i still don't know if it it'll tolerate being walked on.
If you want to do this in the future and have it hold up, I recommend you sculpt them, and use the various moldmaking tutorials found at http://www.smooth-on.com/ to cast a copy in latex. You'll have to pour a mold around the sculpy version, then once that cures, use that mold to make latex copies. Watch the tutorials first of course so you have an idea of what you'd be getting yourself into. I haven't done it yet myself, but i'm told that casting things in silicone and/or latex is really not terribly hard. If you want to color the latex, liquitex brand acrylic paints do a great job. Then it'll be colored all the way through, so even if it wears, you won't lose your color.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks Tyco!
Yeah, I'm expecting the buggers to break eventually. Sculpty never is the best material when it comes to intense pressure :c
Epoxy putty you say? Ooooh, I have some of that actually, I wish I would have thought of that sooner! I will have to try that once the sculpty cracks, and see how it goes :)
Ah yes! I want to try the latex or silicon technique some time. At the moment I don't have the extra cash to buy the materials, but when I have some cash I will certainly buy them. I have been wanting to cast some paw pads for gloves using that method, as well as a base for a mask.
Thanks again!

I'm modifying my old set of those shoes with pawpads as a work in progress :) Your shoepads look well formed, bet they leave pretty prints in mud and sand and snow.
