Good work here, I don't see anything that really sticks out that needs work. Nice wrap arounds, good forms. Nice thought process going on here, looking forward to this being completed.

The problem is gonna be integrating that big form in a setting without losing the character in that space.

Well then here is what I would do, make thumbnail sketches. You don't have to redraw the character, just make copies of that sketch (just reduce the size of the sketch) and then reprint it so you can draw over it. Make several copies for yourself and when you find something that works for you, run with it.
