In the GizmoChinasa world, Megalodons never went extinct. They're very sparce, but do indeed exist. Most aquatic species in the world are very primitive, and not as advanced as the animals living on land. Megalodons, despite being one of the most ancient species, are actually more advanced than their aquatic kin, and are known to have interactions with the advanced land species. They're very respected, mostly due to their immense size and strength.

They're the near-legendary, ancient, advanced and mysterious race? That's the role taken by elves in most settings, and here they're kaiju sized aquatic predators? That is freaking genius.
