Some more optional worldbuilding, this time we're delving into the common beast of burden used by Gekkomis on their home island~!
Additional Info:
- Despite the name of 'Ridgecrest Ox', they are actually believed to be more closely related to goats.
- Ridgecrest ox come in a wide variety of coat colors as well as horn length and fur length and density depending on the region they're native in outside of Ridgecrest. Many regions have their own specialty variety!
- Its believed, besides climbing, that Ridgecrest Ox also evolved their spurs as well as their horns and tusks to fight off large, dangerous predators that have since died off. Though rumor persists of these ancient predators being sighted on occasion in the deeper parts of the swamps and forests of Aurora's Claw Island...
- Besides harvesting their thick soft fur without harming the ox, brushing is also a great way to form a bond with one's Ox, though care must be taken to especially not get baby Oxes accustomed to being brushed while resting on one's lap. It gets hard to get them to break that habit when they grow MUCH large and are decidedly no longer lap-sized...
- Ridgecrest has an annual tradition of racing the most prized among their native ox down steep cliffslides that are quite the spectacle to behold~!
Gekkomis are an OPEN species. Feel free to make your own as personal characters or even adopts~! There's even a bunch of free bases to choose from~!
