Corryn's Wind Pressure Technique (Art by Marurun)
Before the Cirran held control over the western continent, they were a small but growing nomadic tribe of the desert led by an oligarchy of warriors and craftsmen. Deep within the dunes they forged themselves and their weapons with ore from the earth baked for countless eons by the sun. Constant exposure to these minerals resulted in a permanent genetic mutation that turned their skin a coppery hue, blessing them with their namesake, the Cirran, or "the seared" in their language.
In modern times, long after the allied war that won them the right to govern the western continent, they are hardly known for their battle prowess. Their craftsmanship has only improved with time, and even after their change of flesh, they still mine the ore from the dunes of their home land. As a result, their adept flair for battle and tactics have all but become forgotten... with one exception.
Corryn is the student of a dead art; the way of the sword taught by his people hundreds of years ago, long before the war. His mentor was the last known person to harness this talent before passing it on to Corryn. As Corryn was young at the time, he was reluctant to teach him such techniques, but as he witnessed him mature into a well-meaning individual, he decided to teach him before the art was lost forever.
Despite all the build-up and history behind it, the technique itself is actually very simple. With the proper application of force and mental stimulation through the use of an antique Cirran-forged blade, Corryn can rip open sharp currents of air into the atmosphere, slicing the wind and creating a razor-sharp length of searing force. To the Japanese, the term "kamaitachi" might be appropriate for this sort of thing; to Corryn, it's merely "wind pressure." Something like that, anyway.
This technique is a common piece of his arsenal, and despite its rarity, the sight of it isn't impressive - it's the aftermath. The age of the Cirran-forged blade is important to the technique, as it grows more and more resonate with age, not unlike a fine wine. Corryn's sword, Shahel, is of undetermined origin, to the point where the very word means "nothing." Whether the sword is supernaturally old or Corryn is highly talented is unknown.
