Manticores are unique in that their digestive systems can literally break down any object or material-- including metals. The myth originated in Persia, where it was described that manticores would eat warriors still fully dressed in armour, and then even go so far as to eat their weapons so that there'd be nothing left behind.
So a crowbar in all honesty is just a little snack!! And it probably IS very rich in iron. >:)
