This is a work-in-progress collaboration between myself and my good buddy from waaay back, Trevor Sinnott. He's got lyrics for it and we have many many MANY ideas for what to do with this song, so expect the finished-product to rock your socks off!
I'm using a new recorder and some new software to record the instruments and play with the track effects, so the compression and EQ bands might sound a little weird. Still just an amateur musician, so I'm still searching for that king-sound for my instruments.
Trevor did the guitarwork from 0:12 to 1:09. I did absolutely everything else: bass, drums, and the remaining guitarwork. Only reason he hasn't put much down is because we haven't had much recording-time together and I wanted to mix something down so that we could both have a song to listen to and draw more ideas from.
Drums drop out at 2:16 and I never got around to recording them since my laptop won't handle 8 tracks at once and the drums you hear are done via my Zoom R16's very unfriendly user-interface. Normally my R16 is just an interface between my instruments and my laptop so I record directly into Cubase.
Oh, and watch out at 2:35. XD Time signatures are 17/16 and 7/8.
Brought to you by: Steve Hayes and Trevor Sinnott.
Enjoy!

Next step is coming up with more of the song. Lol. This is nowhere near being a finished piece. You think I'd write a song less than 6 minutes long? Ha!
Vocals will come later. Trevor already told me he wants my death-growling/screamo talents for selected parts and my singing vocals for most of it. I think he also wants to put his voice down as well.

I'm recording straight from my amp's output jack into my R16. I have no other effects pedals in between and I find it hard enough to bring out the right sound using Cubase's effects and eq without completely ruining the sound. I'm basically working with a totally different setup from what I used to use and I'm having to re-learn everything from the ground up since I'm recording from an amp instead of an FX pedal.
Also, everything sounds different in my headphones and on my stereo in my studio-room. I bring it out here onto my pc and it's a new sound; I take it into my car and it's another new sound. Hard to get it exactly right.
