The village of Sanford, MI was in the news this week when the dam broke and the nearby town was flooded. I made this shot 50 weeks earlier during the Free Fishing Weekend from a public access site. You can see the hydroelectric plant in the distance.

Sanford dam's berm was damaged, but overall it's still intact. The people bidding to purchase the dam said it was designed to handle flood control of this type, it simply was not employed to do so.
