The moon was high in the sky, the canine odor had spread in the air.
Thomas and Matsuo ran non-stop on the large meadows and in the middle of the tall trees, nothing could stop them, their determination was skyrocketing.
They got to the point.
"Wait up!" Thomas said.
Matsuo stopped, Thomas sniffed the grass.
He took a deep breath.
"We are here! The point is here!".
Thomas jumped forward, the river was ahead of them.
Thomas jumped, Matsuo followed him.
Thomas looked back.
"Our smell and our tracks will fade thanks to the river, the great din of the stream and the smell of wet grass will cover our crossing" Thomas said proudly.
He lurked behind a tree.
He motioned to Matsuo to approach, he carried out the order in silence.
"Remember, I am Nox for you now, Thomas no longer exists."
"I don't understand, yet I...".
Nox motioned Matsuo to shut up.
"The lupine beast that dwells within me is Nox, Thomas is only the human who I am, but not now" Nox said.
Matsuo nodded.
He placed a paw on Nox's shoulder.
"I understand you".
Nox blushed.
"Thank you".
They aimed a deer passing by, he stopped to drink at a stream along the way.
"Are you ready? I'd like you to go first," Nox said.
Matsuo was proud and honored.
"I'm ready" Matsuo said.
Nox rested his paw on Matsuo's shoulder.
"I trust in you".
Matsuo nodded.
In the distance, Nox saw a flock of sheep and other animals grazing on top of a clearing.
The moon was temporarily covered by black clouds.
Nox grinned, his eyes and Matsuo's eyes shining in the darkness of the night.
"The hunt is open" Nox hissed.
