Not all that many green flowers out there. Gladioluses' long stem resembles a sword (hence sometimes they're called sword flowers). Apparently, the sword is said to pierce the heart with love. With their sword association (and with gladiators too) they symbolise strength and integrity. Here for Calliope, it means inner strength and never giving up. It takes a lot to perform on a stage in front of crowds when you're shy and scared but facing your fear head on is one of the strongest things you can do.
