I spent about two hours last night working on my head. This is the first head I've ever worked on, so naturally progress is slow as I go up the learning curve.
I've added quite a bit of rough foam to fill out the shape of the head, and I plan to go back over it and carve off the excess in order to get the exact shape. But even with the rough foam additions, the head is already starting to take some definite shape.
I also discovered last night that hot glue is really HOT. I burned my thumb while adding one of the foam pieces, and now I have a nice little blister where the glue touched my skin.
