Hehe... yeah... It is not really realistic.
In Nhakiks case... it is some kind of traditional clothing (for his kin) and he is no offensive fighter... and far awar from being a warrior.
He is more one of those who remain hidden in the shadows or hide on a tree to strike down his enemies unseen.
And... because of this, he does not need real armor/ body protection.
