Drekir are strong in very different ways from humans.
they have terrible arm strength, generally they are comparable about to a 14 year old kid as opposed to any adult human and most adult humans can out lift a drek in terms of arm strength.
But in terms of back and leg strength they are insanely powerful, they are built like pack animals. Often they are capable of lifting well above their body weight and can pull great weights a long distance. They may not lift much with their arms but boy can they pull a wagon if they're strapped to it.

They do domesticate some animals for food but yeah it is mostly for food.
though there are larger wagons that drekir can't really pull and often larger animals like Taur (what became of horses and cows) that fill in that gap.
Though generally yeah a lot of cultures tend to build around taking advantage of a drek's ability to strap themselves to a travois, small wagon, etc. and pull it themselves without having to teach their farm animals to do it. It's just faster and more straightforward and I feel there wouldn't be much of a stigma to it compared to the alternative of trying to get your food animals to start haulin. Just strap yourself to the cart and get it done yourself is a common sentiment
