Plentiful prawns from the kitchens of yelleena

I really like prawns but they're expensive. I was lucky enough to receive a kilo of precooked prawns in their shell recently. I must admit I had to learn the hard way how to shell and devein the little buggers and it took me over an hour to do the whole kilo but I was determined. My fingers ached but I do believe the results were worth it. I got to eat this dish all on my own and I was in prawn heaven. I can't give you the exact amounts of sauces but each sauce that I used was approximately 1-2 tablespoons.
Prawn Dish
Ingredients
1 Onion – diced
1kg Pre Cooked Prawns – deveined and shelled – keep on ice and chilled at all times until cooking.
6- 10 medium Basil Leaves – ripped or shredded
Salt & Pepper – to taste
Tomato Sauce
Chilli Sauce
Teriyaki Sauce
BBQ or Steak Sauce
A little oil of your choice
Method
In a medium heated pan with a little oil toss in onions and fly until transparent
Throw in prawns
Stir several times for about 5 minutes
Add all sauces, salt and pepper
Lastly add basil leaves
Stir several times for a further 5 minutes making sure that all ingredients are well coated and the prawns heated through.
Serve on its own or with rice or pasta.
Note: fresh prawns can be used but make sure they’re cooked through before serving. This generally doesn’t take long but may add about 5 minutes to your cooking time.
