Darlene could hardly believe her luck. It wasn’t often someone of her class got to be a part of that brand new world of “biology”……or was it “Science?” She’d decidedly forgotten the difference.

Today, however, was special for her. A new lab had opened up in the area, A “Vivication department” of the mega-corporation “Prized Natural Puffs INC.” Much of the area’s food they grew went to the company so it wasn’t a surprise to the locals they built a lab out there. What was a surprise, however, was when they started putting out ads for a test subject.

Darlene applied, as well as 12 other people form her town. Surprisingly, she was the only one picked, despite her lower than average intellect. Not that she seemed to mind, or realize how dense she was compared to the rest of the town, so the shock was lost on her.

When she showed up, however, she didn’t have much happen aside from them pulling her into an office, handing her a wheat roll bun, and making her sign a waiver, eat the bun, and sent her on her way. 30 minutes in total, but it didn’t stop her from dreaming big. while she walked home she couldn’t help but imagine how famous she was going to be, her name all on the news, her face on all the new products. Her fame was already sticking in her small hometown, all the stares she was getting.

By the time she made it home, she was feeling pretty full of herself, and her overalls, finally noticing they were a little ill-fitting now before looking down and seeing just why people were staring, her belly had ballooned up impressively the last few minutes walking home, but even so, she could still feel whatever it was inside of her swelling more and more…..but she didn’t feel like she was growing any more.
