Jefferson is one sly cat. He's quite a sly cat, spending most of the time thinking up schemes to get rich quick, mostly scams. He's pretty much a professional con artist, mostly doing things like selling worthless garbage as something very valuable or selling stuff with a double meaning. And because his scams mostly target those who... well, aren't the brightest, he's pretty much safe. Well, maybe just sometimes he underestimates one's intelligence, but he is able to handle the situation well... usually.
