Well, time for Yeren the Heizhen to show off his evolved form!
I really love how the main character of the story is in this. and the artist jazylh drew it pretty fast. im not used to an artist responding in less than 3 months.
I could have posted it before but i kinda putted it off due to always taking a lot of time to write the description since i always need to write something about this world that i am building in my mind. This gives me the perfect opportunity to write it down for once.
Anyway, on with the show.
This time, lets talk about the principle of the powered up form for all character.
it as always something of very high interest to me to see characters transform into a higher powered up form. it always bring this sort of joy and utter excitement to see something like that. and so i made it a very important building block of this story, Terranos is there to vouch for that.
And since all my characters are monsters, they can have a more drastic transformation than usual for characters.
I usually call it Hyper Evolution but i don't feel that name is that good. still, i call it an evolution.
Gameplay wise, a powered up form would be a meter you increase in battle by doing various actions (dealing damage and receiving it, and healing for the healers).
once that meter is full, you can "unleash the beast" and the character will evolve into that form for the time it takes for the meter to deplete.
You can find items that would increase the meter and others that would allow you to stay in Hyper Evolution for the duration of the battle but those ones are rare.
Storywise, the evolution powerup is a skill that 40% of Der-Urkan posses so its not that rare (so expect some enemies to pull it off). Werther one has it or not is entirely up to chance, you are born with it.
It doesn't mean that those that don't have it are weaker or inferior. What i mean is that while those that have this evolution start with an advantage, they tend to rest on their laurels and not work as much as they should and train less. Likewise, those that don't have it start with a disadvantage but they train more to compensate.
In the end, powers are pretty much equal and the rest is up to individuals.
There is a few things to say about the characters and this.
1) while the 8 main character's evolutions will have big appearance differences, the 4 extra characters won't have that big of a difference in appearance. but thats subject to change.
2) Of the 8 main characters, only the character Robot wasn't born with it. still that only applies for the prologue chapter.
His "First Treasure" that he receive when he is about to depart from the village is a Core. this allows him to change body entirely (which is his main gameplay element) as well as giving him the Hyper Evolution.
For this specific character, hes really themed after his axe's blades. I like the detail that he gets a headfin in this form since in my story, only male lizardman have those. He doesn't have have it in his base mode because his scalp has Mindlfayer skin, not lizardman. As such, no fin in base mode and only his full lizardman super form has it.
That'll do for now
