The Call of Magic is a low fantasy/romance novel I've been working on the last month or so; at least since worldwide quarentine started. The story centers around Emaline Hoffmann ("DR. Emaline, if you please."), a sweet but somewhat reclusive first generation baroness living in a peaceful seaside town, who's dedicated herself to science, magic, and the well-fare of her people and her king. Her life is a quiet, uneventful one, just the way she prefers, until she's called upon by king and country to be courted by the eldest prince of a foreign kingdom, Prince Oran O'Cairbre, for the sake of a territorial alliance between both kingdoms. On top of becoming the focus of an arranged marriage, she's asked to tutor the young prince in the ways of magic; preferably before the Rite of Manhood in ten months, and much more preferably before his unstable magic blows something up again.

Arranged marriage, online and townwide gossip, an alliance, buzz within the royal court, kidnapping and assassination attempts left and right, and someone out here trying to take advantage of it all... Her previously peaceful, simple world is completely turned on its head almost overnight. If you need her, she'll be hiding in her study watching cartoons in her pjs, trying in vain to hide from the responsibility she'd long since been avoiding and is now extremely unprepared to face.

She's our leading lady, and this is her first character sheet! It may be updated a few times as the story develops. Next will be Oran, who's gonna be bringing a lot more with him than just a magic sword and biceps, as much as he likes to pretend otherwise.
