A portrait of my fursona, Reskao. He started off as a character for RP but I grown to be really attached and felt that Reskao is really my fursona.
Backstory:
Reskao was born in Texas as a human. He loves to meet new people and help others out as much as he can. Unfortunately, despite his desire to help people, he often doesn't know what to do to help people, so when people get upset, this usually stresses him out because he wants to help but often doesn't know how. He is also afraid to do anything that would upset people, so when people are upset, he often has a hard time helping because he's worried about upsetting people further if he does it wrong, which often causes more stress. Reskao is also very compassionate, often very concerned for the well-being of others, sometimes more concerned for others than he is himself.
Shortly after he graduated highschool, physical transformation became a possibility, and soon became a booming industry. People were getting transformations for things as simple as losing weight or making themselves prettier, to full animal transformations (both anthropomorphic and feral).
He soon checked out one of these transformation centers for himself, and started with minor changes here and there, and found the process exciting. His money allowed him to keep going, and soon he began trying out animal transformations. Eventually, he tried out an anthropomorphic fox form and loved it so much that he made it permanent. He did continue trying out different transformations, but always settled on maintaining his anthro fox form as his "normal".
Since he was at the transformation center so much, he decided to begin volunteering there in his free time. He started with simple tasks such as records keeping, but then was trusted with more tasks such as basic lab assistant work, and sometimes providing tech support for the computers and lab equipment. He quickly learned while assisting the technicians and scientists and took a great interest in research and science.
One day, after he had been volunteering at the lab for a few years, he was at a store and was trying to find a bathroom. He found a corridor that seemed to be labeled for the bathrooms and entered it. In this corridor were two doors, neither of them labeled. He picked one at random, hoping he didn't accidentally wind up in the women's bathroom, and stumbled upon a laboratory. Before he could try to go back, his attention was captured by a living cartoon in the lab. People in the lab were trying to contain it, and it eventually "toonified" another person in the lab, who then "toonified" Reskao. He underwent not only physical changes, transforming into a living, 2-dimensional cartoon, but also mental changes. He felt compelled to "toonify" others, and tried to "toonify" others in the lab, which caused a lot of people to be upset. During this, he snapped out of the mental changes and then realized how upset everyone was, which caused him to get upset himself. Eventually, he was able to be turned back into his normal fox form and he got to properly meet the others in the lab.
Over the next few days, Reskao had many exciting, and most often, upsetting adventures. Most notably of which was encountering an anthropomorphic phoenix named Scorch, who transformed Reskao into a phoenix, identical to Scorch. Reskao discovered quickly that, like Scorch, had magic powers now. Scorch offered to make him a collar like what he had, so that Reskao could keep his magic. Scorch crafted a custom collar for Reskao, black in color with a bright, orange gemstone and two black ribbons in the back. Reskao tested it out and discovered with great delight that he still had magic! He tested a few different things out and caught on quick.
Recently, Reskao has been working to figure out how he got here and if there's a way back. Omni, a protogen that helps to run the lab, offered to help, and Omni seems to have taken an interest in Reskao and the circumstances of his arrival.
Reskao, despite stumbling into a new world, was able to make friends quickly, and he continues to practice his magic as he works to figure out how he got to this world he's in now, and if there's a way back. However, Reskao doesn't want to leave this new world if it means he can never come back to it.
