Here we have it folks, an actual alien!
This lovely fellow is a Nechronian, which is the name their species became known as in Common Ephalonion (English).
In their native tongue, they refer to themselves as We-Va-rians.
Long ago, before Ephalon even existed, these hyper-advanced creatures looked very different from what you see before you now. On a faithful day whilst scouting a neighbouring solar system, they happened upon a rather frightful sight. The planet upon which the native sentients there lived, was wrecked beyond recognition. The atmosphere was gone, all life was eradicated, and a considerable chunk of the planet itself now floated amongst the stars.
Amid the destruction lurked a horrifying space-faring, serpent-like creature, they dubbed, as Raarednilsrev (Ra-red-nil-srif), which translates as the Great Serpent Devourer. With the looming threat of total-annihilation, the Nechronians set out to build a massive space ship to carry them far-far away. They managed this overwhelming task before the arrival of their doom; however, in order to survive in space for the long term, they had to alter their bodies and way of life.
No longer would the concept of eating or drinking be a requirement for survival. This new ship granted the Nechronians the much-needed life-sustaining power, by way of a near-constant electrical current which emanated from the walls or floors and travelled directly into their body. This new form was made as efficient as possible, allowing this scientific species to perform their passion, research, without hindrance; however, the cultural and physical toll in making themselves so effective was immense.
They adopted a genderless society and removed most physiological diversity; therefore, their appearance is more or less uniform. To that end, reproduction via mating was no longer viable; instead, cloning and genetic engineering became the only way forward. An adverse effect of this, was that they grew physically weak, unable to heal themselves any longer. If one got wounded and needed healing, they'd have to travel to the nearest bio-sludge department for a quick jab and be right back to work. The only organs they still have from their original form are the heart, lunges and heart. Everything else was gone, replaced by single extensive and complex, bio-mechanical electrical sack used for storing power.
Due to mysterious circumstances, thousands of years ago the alien vessel crash-landed on Ephalon, and to the best of everyone's knowledge were wiped-out. A still unknown event supposedly knocked them out of hyper-space and ripped the alien vessel to pieces.
More on these guys later on!
Enjoy!
