Rodent was always curious about the workings of a venus fly trap, so when he happened across a rather large one, he decided to climb on in and see what happens. I suspect that it will be the one who discovers the remains of Rodent's tail, who will be able to pass along the information of what happens to rats in such situations. ;)
I love how this came out. Rodent looks so adorably relaxed as he watches and waits for the upper leaf to close down over him and trap him inside. And the venus fly trap came out wonderful. Who wouldn't want to climb inside?
My thanks to Henz for taking these commissions and doing such a beautiful job with them.

There was this huge media beat up about the discovery of a pitcher plant that could eat rats in PNG. Sorry to spoil it for you, but it turns out that was (at best) wishful thinking on the media's part--the plant much preferred to feast on insects. In the unlikely event a rat were to fall in it and couldn't get out, digesting the rat would (deservedly ) cause the plant to die from over-nutrition. I think I remember seeing a pitcher plant that was designed to attract rodents and the pitcher was positioned in such a way as to capture the rodents' scat while they enjoyed its flowers. I'm not sure if that counts as a fetish plant or not. Not that I'm into coprophilia of course. Honestly.
