I learned a new weave the other day. I made this using AWG14 rings with an inner diameter of 1/4" (AR3).
it was quite easy after getting started, and dispite the rings being small this weave is remarkably flexible in every direction!
the reason for this is that while it is a 1in4, there are extra interlinks allowing more room for each ring.
i don't know if this weave has a name but it looks fantastic. i may even try to find a way to add it to a piece of armor.

that's what i hope to accomplish. even if it is a soft steel, over time the metal will absorb some amount of nitrogen from the air and become slightly harder. i may have to redesign when i make my second welder, to include a lever action and over-cut the rings (like one does for riveting) and fuse the flattened ends together that way.
