When I was a wee one I pissed my family off by constantly demanding to watch this film, not knowing how excellent it was or how fur I would become (not much actually.. but if you find FA you've got to admit some fur anyway)
This character had depth and mystery without being that over dramatic alienating sort. In a lot of ways Nicodemus completed the 'hero's quest' by putting Ms. Bris on the path, giving her knowledge about the past and future and gifting that amulet.

Ohh.. You know, for how much I enjoyed and still enjoy that movie I have never considered getting the book, something that I must remedy very shortly.
Does it stand a read at ages over 20, or is it mostly one of those save-it-for-the-kids type of deal?
Well, I guess if I still watch the film and you say that the book had even more defined characters then it can't be that bad to read at my age. And who am I kidding I'm still a kid.

At first glance, Nicodemus did appear very intimidating and somewhat frightening, but once you got past that, you could easily see him as being a very wise, compassionate and understanding rat. A bit like the mysterious old wizard who presented himself in a somber, but kindly manner.
