1 Phil Morrisey Re-Enacts the Hindenburg Disaster
Hello folks. Here's a piece of pre-internet fannish history. From Huzzah #10, published May 20th 1993, is a con report from Confurence 3 that occurred the previous Superb owl Sunday. This was part of a series called "The Top Ten Things about Confurence 3. This was a collaboration between Bryce Nakagawa, Eric Elliott, and myself, Each one of us getting a page, in turn. We collaborated frequently then, as we all lived nearby to each other, and met once a week on Wednesdays or Thursdays for a social "Artists Meet Up." Remember this is BEFORE the internet so most fan communication was face to face, l at conventions, or through copies of B/W fanzines. Huzzah! was one of them.
In one of the room parties, Phil spotted Bryce Nakagawa's Field Hockey stick. so... Ladies and Gentlemen, please enjoy the comedy Stylings of Phil Morrisey.

Yeah I remember that. I was volentold to run the Art Show so once we had shut down the show I would come out to the dealers and pull up a table and do freebee sketches to keep myself busy while waiting on Henbe, Max, and gNAW to finish up before we could head out.
As for scribbling away, its nothing compared to Max working furiously in the corner of the Dead Dog parties to get caught up on all his commissions at every con we ever went to. I swear the man is a machine when it comes to cranking out the artz

FurryMUCK was around for CF1. It is were i found out there was a furryCON happening from Lance Rund. All of 50 people who could be on at one time with out crashing the server.
The original version of FurryMUCK was hosted at North Carolina State University until mid-1991, when it was forced to move. A new home was found at the University of California at Irvine, where it resided until November of that year. While at UC Irvine FurryMUCK was limited to 63 concurrent users. In November FurryMUCK moved again, this time to a server at Carnegie-Mellon University. It remained there until September 1992, when FurryMUCK was deleted and had to be restarted (with the loss of considerable work) at the University of Toronto. Toronto proved to be only a short-term home, and in October 1993, after a call for volunteers to host the system, it was moved to St. Norbert College. This time the address proved to be more stable, and FurryMUCK remained at St. Norbert until 1999, when it was finally relocated to a dedicated server.

FurryMUCK was around, but knowing about it or being able to access it was quite the problem. You needed to have access to an UNIX account, which you just couldn't get if you were not a collage student. Not until Netcom.com and PC Pursuit came online could most people started being able to access furryMUCK.
I still remember fondly Jasmine DeKimba ringing up a massive $700 plus phone bill at the Hotel San Diego cause she was was logged on the whole time back in 1993 to Furrymuck. Then she and Merlino approached me, begging me to see if I could get that bill waved since I was on VERY good terms with the HSD staff. I just shook my head and said "Nope! This is all on you!"
I recall Mark had to cover the bill on his credit card.
