Poor Sierra. With all of her adventures and interesting encounters, it's easy to forget, sometimes, that far more has been lost than a cushy lifestyle and modern conveniences. This picture really brings home the feeling of loss and what the end of the world has really cost her. I'm sure her father would be proud of her for how she has handled herself after the end, and happy to know she still remembers him.
Though I don't know if I've ever gone into what happened to Sierra's mother, it's always been the case that she and her father have been a pair since after her mother's passing. Being a military father he placed the values of loyalty and courage among other things into his daughter and gave her the skills she would need for the war he knew was coming. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that she would do just about anything to keep those dog tags with her.
While most of my characters develop family members on an as needed basis I think her relationship with her father has always been a cornerstone of her character development, which has only increased the more her story has been developed. It's safe to say that as far as her family her father is the most important person to her story.

I agree with Megan. This is a very moving piece and a stark reminder that the end of the world won't be all trashing raiders and exciting adventures. Actually, I think your whole project thus far has done a good job of giving us a more realistic look at the end of the world and making it both terrifying and heartbreaking.
