Bio: Karina is a short-stack shiny Mawile. She was born and raised in Unova before she moved to Luani Island with her mother Abby. Since she grew up in the bustling cities, she’s very used to a lot of human interests and lifestyles. Video games are her life and she is 100% dedicated her life to them. Her dream is to work with and make video games herself someday.

She lives in a cosy yet small house with her mum on the island, and the two get along very well despite having such drastically different interests. Karina does try to join her mum in certain activities though.

Karina’s main appearance traits involve her extremely long hair which reaches the ground, her short height (About 4ft tall) and her eye-mask makeup that resembles an inkling from Splatoon. Others sometimes call her a ‘Zigzagoon’ or ‘Nook’ because of the eye-mask. The makeup is removable but promise me- its waterproof and she never wants it removed!
Her back maw also has a golden tooth, not because she’s a shiny… Karina likes the gold tooth, but now knows to look after her teeth better. Her back maw is quite docile and doesn’t open its mouth unless its eating. It usually looks grumpy and can be heard making subtle grumbling noises.

Unlike most Mawiles, her face is a lot more… flat, and doesn’t have the sort of ‘muzzle’ shape as others do. For example, Sharna has a more accurate Mawile head shape.

Karina is bisexual, but heavily prefers girls. You won’t ever see her flirting with a guy, but with Lar and Narir she has a more… aggressive approach to it. When it comes to girls however Karina is a flirting machine on 110%. You can imagine how it ends up most of the time.

At heart, Karina is nerdy, peppy, and has a big ego. She loves cute things and decorating her walls and personal items with stickers and other things that she enjoys. You’ll always see game related keychains attached to her phone and bag.

This is where her ego comes in to play. She likes to go about life her way and shows little interest in letting others lead her around, so she takes the ropes as much as she can. Karina is a hard shell to crack as well. If someone is being rude to her or extremely negative, she doesn’t care and doesn’t let others get her mood down. She’s quite tough in that sense. However, she can be quite close-minded to her friends as well, not really listening to them or taking their feelings into consideration.

Despite her bad quirks and egotistical personality, she does have some friends. She’s namely friends with Lar and Narir, who are her go-to gaming buddies. Her closest friend is Marieth, the grumpy Shaymin. Despite this she spends most of her time alone or playing games online with her many online friends from around the world.

Outside of the house she can be seen just walking around the town or be in the mall, where she likes to shop, eat and hangout. It’s more than likely you’ll see her dragging a friend along with her, whether they want to join or not! She always has her handbag, phone and Switch with her always and likes to play a game while she’s sitting around at a café or just for a rest. She may challenge random people to play with her if she’s SUPER bored. Joy cons are a god send for that!

She likes to explore the island, but doesn’t ever travel too far, usually making up excuses to go back home. When she is at home with her mum, she’s a lot lazier- staying in her room playing games, snacking on food, chatting with friends on the computer. Her mum worries for her a lot.

Outside of gaming she’s trying to learn how to cook and has started doing yoga and a few other activities after Narir persuaded her.

Story: Karina was born in Unova and raised there for the first few years of her life. She grew up with her mother (Abby) and father. Abby was in an abusive relationship- Karina being too young at the time to know what was going on.

After Karina was born, and seeing her twinkle with that rare shine, the father was ecstatic- for all the wrong reasons.
Suddenly the father was obsessed with this shininess, and wanted a whole family of shinies.
Abby was perfectly happy with just Karina and didn't want any more children so soon.
This is when the abuse would slowly start to gather, getting worse as time went on.

No more than a year later, her mother decided to effectively ‘runaway’ from the situation, taking Karina with her to another city in Unova. Life went decently for them, but Karina’s mother wanted to leave the region as a whole and start anew after feeling so heartbroken and afraid.

From a few friends she had made along the way, she’d eventually learn about Luani island. Shortly after, a young Karina and her mother would move to the tropical island.

Karina doesn’t remember much about her father, but she knows she doesn’t want to see him. Karina is happy to live with her mother on the island, and with it just being the two of them now, she feels like she must stay by her mothers’ side. This is why- despite Karina being old enough to live on her own, she stays with her mum. They care deeply for each other.

. Most of her clothes are a brand called ‘OKU-Tank’. They sport an Octillery as their mascot and are well known for light summer and sea themed shirts and fashion. They also have some collab work with ‘Splatoon’ themed shirts.

. Lar & Narir- Karina is gaming buds with Lar and Narir. She met Lar when they both went to buy a game and there was only one copy left. After a video game battle, Karina won. She’s a lot closer to Narir however and has known him since she was a teen.
. Fwolo- She’s very close friends with Fwolo, taking an interest in his artwork. They chat a lot online and even run a blog about Luani together!
. Lorenzo & Mila- She gets along decently with these two and knows them through Narir and Lar
. Marieth (Aka Grumpmin)- Karina hangs out with Marieth a lot, and the two are very close friends. The Grumpy Shaymin and Karina’s personality seem to work well together- that and they’re both rather small.
. Solana & Solea- These two lakesprits are close friends. She got to know Solana mostly through Lar, and Solea just kind of tags on~
. Bayuki- You’ll see Karina with Bayuki at the mall. The two enjoy getting sushi together and gossiping.
. Mekori- She know’s Mekori (Bayuki’s mother) through her own mum. Mekori can get a bit too cuddly with Karina~
. Risa- She likes to mess around with Risa the Toxapex- whether it’s cute or lewd-
. Sharna- Sharna and Karina seem to dislike each other, both having a different view on Mega Evolution. You’ll see these two butt heads often.
. Kaelee- Another friend in the short gang~ While their interests are very different, they'll hang out every now and then.
