I stepped out of the Pogo-in-Australia sequence because I wanted to draw something quick and soothing, and there is something very soothing in the Walt Kelly design for snakes. Unfortunately, first, I drew nearly all of the figure on the sketch layer --- an 'undo' hit the wrong thing --- and I had to redraw the whole snake and think about whether I wanted to redraw the badly corrupted sketch layer. I also decided to throw in some background, and was really happy with the tree I drew until I realized that the proportions made not a lick of sense, so I threw that out (well, I hid the layer it was on) and re-drew that from scratch. So, in all, I ended up spending about twice as long on this snake feeling accused than I would have if I'd done Pogo and Mouse messing around with two kangaroos and a bandicoot.
On the plus side: I was able to get his hat to look plausibly like Kelly's drawing of the hat, by increasing the brush thickness to 15% and turning the taper up to 75% and just drawing lots of loops.
