(Scraps folder)
I found this sketch while rummaging through some old paperwork. I'm pretty sure it had to have been from maybe the middle 2000's or something, judging from the yellowing fandold paper it was drawn on, probably done at work during a slow period. In any case it looked decent enough to preserve in some manner, so I decided to scan it and place it in scraps.
I do have a budding project to scan and post some of my really early work, stuff that pre-dates FA and even VCL--pre-turn-of-the-century stuff. But lots of artists really want to bury their earlier works, to the extent they regularly purge fairly recent works from their galleries and only display their most recent artwork, out of a concern of losing potential commissions because someone happened across an old piece and made a snap judgement of the artist's abilities based on that pic and nothing else. There is something to this, being that I tend to post somewhat infrequently, but I have a plan to address this...at least for my case.
I am performing a fixer-upper on another copy of this pic and will talk a little more about this subject once I upload that one to my regular gallery, since who really reads descriptions on pieces posted in scraps anyway?
Edit: Finished the color version, see it here. Discussion of the archive project is here
Pencil on half-sheet fanfold paper, scanned and level-adjusted with Micrografix Picture Publisher 10. 1.8MB JPG reduced to 25% dimensions for upload. Part of Project ID #481
