The one real hurdle I would say is making the terrarium. It will cost you $100-$200 or so to make a proper one with the right substrate layers, and to add live plants and such.
After that, they are pretty easy to care for if you don't mind keeping a rotation of fruit fly cultures! I have 3 at all times, and make a new culture every 20 days or so. I buy the supplies for them in bulk - like a year's worth at a time is around $40 I wanna say? I have a rotation of vitamins I dust them with too. I feed them 3x a week - Mon, Weds, and Fri so it's 3 different dustings (I keep each type of dust in a different labelled container with the day of the week written on each). Other than that, as long as the room you keep them in is kept in the low 70s, they won't need a heat source. You just have to spray the tank a couple times daily to keep the humidity up.
The males do call sometimes, but they aren't that loud.
If you ever get them let me know and I can provide more detail and links to good sites for supplies!

Honestly $100-1200 doesn't sound that bad at all, I just spent too much money on a gecko setup XD I'm sure my husband would love something like the dart frog setup, maybe one day we'll put together something like that! Thank you for the info, I really appreciate you explaining and offering your advice! I'll be sure to keep that in mind. ouo
