Now I'm just guessing here, but seeing how the tree appears wounded and so does she with all the limbs replaced by bark and the literally exposed back as if she was cut open. I'm thinking she was loosing the fight pretty bad against the demon god before she made that pact with "Nature's wrath" as she call it, and that apparently wounds inflicted by the "son of the void" don't heal ever.
