I admit, when I started this quickie pic of a "kaijumorphed" Stamp-Collecting Trollusk, I had the full intention of going totally "Rule 34" on her...but, as I looked up reference pics, I realized that I didn't want to. See, before Tim Burton or "Nightmare Before Christmas," there was Mercer Mayer and his monsters "from Beyond the Edge of Nowhere"...perhaps the one element of my oft-blocked childhood that has held over to this day, as well as the single largest influence on my art, if not my entire worldview. For the first time, I realized that monsters didn't have to be scary...that some, like the Trollusk who prefers to collect stamps from freshly-delivered, unopened letters, were just different. Not bad, not scary (on purpose, at least), just...different.
...whaddaya know. Something IS sentimental to me still. Yeah, knowing me I'll probably smut her up some time in the future...but for now, let's just sit and admire her toes with her, huh?
