skekShod was the bi-product of the division of the UrSkeks ShodYod, and therefor the half of urNol the Numerologist.

After the Skeksis came to existence and began to settle their positions, skekShod was a vocal critic of skekSo's title of Emperor, and was beaten severely for mocking him. Afterwards, both he and skekNa would be order to do the remodeling of the Crystal Castle to the Stone appearance it became known for the remainder of the Skeksis Reign.

After the Crystal Alliance was created and the peaceful resolution of the Makrak raids, the Gelfling and Poddling began to serve the new Skeksis lords, the races becoming respectively the Warriors and Servants casts in the Castle. With the implementation of the Skeksis Laws, that really served to divide the Clans, and the Tithe system. skekShod along with skekLach, skekOk and skekEkt were in charge of collecting the Gifts from the Gelfling Clans, with skekShod acquiring the title of The Treasurer, a position he was quite happy to be in, been the more avarice of the Skeksis. Indeed, so Greedy was skekShod, that he kept time by the amount of Gifts been collected, and the treasurer would not care for anything else. Rarely speaking, only when one had to bribe his attention with a gift. He was also the most skinny of them.

skekShod (along with Ung, Na, Sa, and Li) was not in the castle during the unfolding events of the Age of Resistance series, though he met Hup when on his duty collecting Tights just before these events. He return after the whole debacle in Stone in the Wood and the deaths of skekMal, skekVar and skekLach.

The Treasurer was an ally of the Ritual Master along with the Gourmand for his ascension to the Throne, but when the Garthim Master became the new Emperor, he and the Ritual Master began plotting to dethrone him. (this is from the novel). This would not come to pass, as Jen succeeded in healing the Dark Crystal and skekShod was absorb by his Mystic, becoming ShodYod once more and left Thra with the other 7 surviving UrSkeks.

However, 100 Thrine after these events, skekShod came to be once more when the Fireling Thurma cracked the Cyrstal to take the shard to heal the Inner Sun of Thra. During the chaos, he went on to collect the Treasures that surrounded the Crystal, but his bid for freedom was short live, as he was re-absorb by his Mystic, and the now surviving 7 UrSkeks (skekSil/urSol having died) leave Thra with a rejuvenated Jen, Kira and Fizzgig.
