Urban explorers have often explored forgotten & abandoned amusement park, few however have entered the abandoned Whipperton Common theme park located in Dartmoor. Based on the ill-fated cartoon series of the same name, the theme park never opened to the public.
One explorer documented his spelunk through the abandoned park. First coming across the main gate, a rusted metalwork frame that once may have depicted laved Ivy with a sign depicting the three main characters of the cartoon: Shleppy the Vole, Flopps the Hare & Grumpnir the wolf lay crumpled on the floor.
Delving further into the park were the skeletal frames of the ride, unfinished and left to rust. A few buildings still stood, one in particular being a cast member “Meet ‘n’ Greet!” Entering the building the explorer came across the “Cast Members” room.
Peeking inside, the explorer discovered several old and decaying Mascot costumes still in the room. One in particular, a discarded mascot costume of Grumpnir lay strewn across the floor… It’s head was crooked, with distorted eyes and a painfully wide, toothy grin.
The floor around it looked as though it had been disturbed & the costume was dirtier than the others… with clumps of dirt matted around the mouthpiece and over the chest.
On the ground next to the costume were scattered pieces of paper, one of which were the schematics of the children’s mascot with scrawled message that read “Grumpnir has no mouth!”
That was when the costume… stood up…
A quirky little commission I did for
TheWolfDen of his Grumpy self realised as a monstrous children's mascot in the style of the Gleipnir manga. Not something I can say I've ever really drawn before, but was interesting to do.
Anyway, hope you all enjoy. As always, the High Res version can be found on SoFurry & Twitter.

Well, the Gleipnir design was his idea... I just tried my best to get it to look right by trying to make it look uncomfortable.
The thing I tried to focus on when design this was the elements that make it look like something that should be worn (hence the bagginess of it), messing around with suit details (such as the hair and beard being part of the suit mould but the belly fur is real fur) and making the over exaggerated expressions look uncomfortably exaggerated & almost painful...
Also tried to make the eyebrow look upturned to make it look upset despite the huge grin... again more to add to a feeling of discomfort
