I made brownies from scratch for the FurFright Conbook Stuffing Party. The pan on the left is my "famous" Coconut White Chocolate brownies and the other is Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip.
Mmmmm... Tasty!
Anyone who says they can't bake brownies from scratch has never tried it. The recipe is pretty simple...
1 Cup (1/2 of a 12oz. package) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 Cup (1 Stick) butter or margarine
3 large eggs
1 1/4 Cups all-purpose flour
1 Cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. baking soda
Preheat oven to 350ºF (Regulo 4). Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan.
Melt chocolate and butter in a large heavy-duty saucepan over low heat; stir until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in eggs until incorporated. Stir in flour, sugar, baking soda, and vanilla extract. Spread into prepared baking pan.
Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
For the brownies I have pictured, I added enough peanut butter chips to nicely cover the top. The other one, I cut up two Lindt White Chocolate Coconut bars and scattered them on the top.
The beauty of this recipe is that it's very flexible. Instead of melting semi-sweet chocolate, try melting white chocolate chips for Blondies, or melt peanut butter chips for peanut butter squares.
