Haha, niiiice! There was actually a discussion a while back about what setting yinglets would excel in, and I joked that there probably weren't any, but then the more I looked at various concepts, the more I realized that a Fallout-esque post-apoc setting would actually be almost perfect for them.
Ability to break down and derive nutrition from all sorts of weird and otherwise toxic stuff, high resistance to poisons and radiation and such, and the ability to adapt over a few generations to their local ecosystem? Add in a penchant for scavenging, an extremely high reproduction rate, small size and quick movement, and they actually become a bit overpowered in this setting!
Sure they aren't very strong, which would be the much bigger setback in previous eras, but it's hard to shoot something small and thin running around like a crazed chicken. Especially if there are a few dozen of them all armed with an assortment of light junky pipe pistols.
I didn't create this species with anything like this in mind whatsoever, yet when I put them into this particular equation, they seemed to fit right in, maybe a little too well
