Biography: Shantelle is one of the many 1/2 mermaids born to Junichiro and Palutena and is the twin sister to Kestrel, coming a minute after Kestrel left Palutena's womb. While Shantelle has a majorly positive relationship with her twin sister Kestrel, the two occasionally do not get along. Shantelle is the occasionally the victim of Kestrel's taunts & jabs, who goes as far as to do so while pinching her cheek harshly. Despite this, it's obvious Kestrel cares deeply for Shantelle. In fact, after listening to their father tell one story that inspired to become a thief, Shantelle decided to become a thief as well, which no doubt pleased Kestrel as she'd have a partner in crime so to speak. However, during weapon training, Shantelle proved to be unable to use magic staves at all, therefor denying her the potential to become a trickster. To compensate: She instead learned how to dual wield daggers to enable her to hit twice while learning how to fight with a sword & bow, too. This dual-wielding of daggers proved to be her strongest point and when it came time for Juni to depart for Gaia to check on it. She went with Kestrel to take part in its powerful army. However, when Gaia Castle came under attack from the invading Supreme Forces, the unit Shantelle and Kestrel was annihilated with them being the only survivors, along with their family when they were forced to evacuate when the battle was declared lost. Despite this, there was no way Shantelle was leaving Gaia and letting Kestrel do the thieving for the Gaia Alliance alone. Thus she proves to be capable of handling her own whenever she is needed. Shantelle proves to be a foil to Kestrel, as she's much friendlier to those she hasn't met and is a bit more sociable than her older twin sister. However, she is also somewhat clumsy and that can sometimes be a problem for stealth missions as Shantelle has been known to trip almost over nothing, even right into mud if it's present. As mentioned earlier, she and Kestrel often don't get along being the recipient of Kestrel's harsh taunts and rebukes for her pudgy appearance and sometimes receive some minor abuse from her. Nonetheless, their relation is a 90/10 ratio as they still get along perfectly 90% of the time. Shantelle has an eye for anything shiny and enjoys collecting gems to use in shops, or to make flashy jewelry to sell. She shares Kestrel's disdain for Dishonorable thieves however, which is why they get along more than they bicker with each other. Tends to go boy crazy the most.
Abilities: Shantelle, being 1/2 mermaid, can take on her mermaid form anytime she's in the water so long as it's pure and fresh. In the water, she enjoys an increase in her dodge/avoid. Thanks to being a thief who is already tricky to hit, this just makes her trickier to hit if in the water. As with any thief, Shantelle enjoys a good dose of speed, and has great growth rates in skill & luck as well. She also has decent strength so she can still hit hard. Thanks to her pudgy appearance however, she has good defense as well, meaning she can take some attacks other thieves wouldn't often survive. Her starting equipment and skills are as follows.
Slim Sword: A lightweight sword that's easy to use. It has a slightly improved chance to land a critical hit. Has 30 uses.
Iron Dagger: A low-priced combat blade that is a bit hard to use. It is the most common dagger. Inflicts -2 magic, -3 defense & resistance debuff on the target on contact. Has 40 uses.
Hunter's Knife: Effective against beasts. Ineffective against nonbeasts. Inflicts -2 luck, -3 defense & resistance debuff on the target on contact. Has 25 uses.
Twin Daggers: Shantelle's personal skill. Enables the ability to dual wield daggers and strike twice in one move. This does not stack with the Brave Effect of the Soldier's Knife. Does not apply to Shuriken and cannot be used while attacking from a distance.
Steal: Allows the user to steal a single weapon, staff, or item from any adjacent target's inventory. Cannot steal currently equipped weapons or user-locked weapons. Works better if speed is higher than the target's.
Locktouch: Allows the user to open a chest or locked door without the use of a key.
